In today’s changing workplace environment, the roles of ‘Leaders’ continue to evolve. No longer defined by hierarchy or positional authority, the role of a leader may vary from day to day depending on the Situation.
Join us as Chris Dewar shares the role of The Situational Leader and brings tips and techniques for anyone to more effectively drive initiatives as well as the performance of others. The discussion will include:
- Who are effective leaders today and what do they have in common?
- What is a Situational Leader? What does Situational Leadership bring to an organization?
- How can leaders adapt Situational Leadership skills to align their management styles to the needs of the individual or group they are trying to influence?
- To what extent are today’s new leaders influencing the workplace? How does one lead without power? What do you do if you’ve got the title but not the experience? What if you’ve got the experience but your baby face betrays you? What do you do when your boss supports and respects you but you suspect your colleagues simply don’t?
In what ways can we be help drive effective leadership in our organizations?

Chris Dewar is an experienced organization development professional with more than twenty-five years’ experience helping individuals and organizations improve their leadership effectiveness and team performance.
In his career, Chris has worked both internally in organizations as well as an external consultant. Most recently, Chris was the HR Director for Banner Pharmacaps’ US region, based in High Point, NC. He has also served as the Director of Organizational Development at Wake Forest Baptist Health, and the Manager of Learning and Development for Raychem Corporation (now TE Connectivity).
Chris has delivered leadership development training in corporations and non-profit organizations and is comfortable working at all organizational levels, from front-line managers to senior executives. With the Leading Solutions Group, an affiliate of the Center for Leadership Studies, Chris delivered trainer certification workshops for the Center’s Situational Leadership programs.
Chris holds a B.A. in Journalism / Public Affairs from Keene State College in Keene, NH, and a M.A. in Education and Human Development from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Chris is certified in, and has experience with, numerous assessments and training programs from organizations including:

Outside of work, you’re likely to find Chris at an ice hockey rink. Chris has coached youth ice hockey teams, from ages 8 – 18, for the last 12 years and has served as a board member for the Winston-Salem Youth Ice Hockey Association in several capacities.
Chris and his wife Kristine are the parents of two boys. Daniel is a senior at NCSU and Peter is a senior in high school in Winston-Salem, NC.
